Everyone loves a bargain but it’s even better to bag a freebie.

And thanks to the internet, it’s never been easier to track down free offers and deals.

There are plenty of websites offering giveaways ranging from free samples and haircuts to free nights out and unwanted second-hand goods.

Here’s our guide to some of the best...

Samples

Many companies give away samples of their products as part of a promotion or advertising campaign.

The www.latestfreestuff.co.uk site directs you to many of the latest offers. All you have to do is fill in your name and address. When we checked, freebies on offer included Maybelline gel foundation samples, Kellogg’s Special K samples and free Velvet balm soft tissue pack.

A similar site is www.bzzagent.co.uk, which allows users to try out products and services for free. You sign up as a “BzzAgent” and are sent free products to try.

You then share your opinions with Facebook friends, Twitter followers and blog readers. The more active you are as an agents, the more products and services you will be sent to test.

And www.freestuffjunction.co.uk is a regularly updated site full of free offers and product samples. For example, as part of British Pub Week, you can get a pint of Carling on the house at your nearest Greene King pub by filling in a simple form. But you’ll need to hurry as this deal ends today.

Shows

YOU can watch BBC TV and radio shows being recorded for free by registering at www.bbc.co.uk/showsand tours/tickets/.

Currently on offer are tickets for comedy show Watson and Oliver being filmed on November 9 and 16, and the Matt Lucas Awards on various dates in November and December. You can apply for up to four tickets.

There are plenty of other shows and concerts across Britain. If you go to www.allgigs.co.uk/search/gigs/free/ you can search in your area. For example, this Wednesday you can catch a range of stand-up comedians at The Old School Yard in Southwark, South London.

Second-hand giveaways

YOU can pick up second-hand items at www.ilovefreegle.org, a network of local groups where people can offer items they want to get rid of but don’t want to throw away. It’s free to sign up – and you post a message offering something you want to give away, or a “wanted” message for something you need.

Days out

THE internet is a great source of information for finding out free things to do at weekends and during the holidays. The www.dofreestuff.com site lists places where entry is free, including heritage sites, museums, galleries and kid-friendly sights, by county. Also worth a look is www.familydayoutuk.co.uk, which has a 50 Free Days Out report.

Free games

AVOID paying out huge amounts on computer games by downloading some for free at www.freepcgamers.com. There are hundreds to choose from, including action, strategy, sport and multi-player online games. The site also carries reviews, so you can check out the games before downloading them.

Haircuts

HAIRCUTS can cost the earth, but you can get your hair done for free by a trainee hairdresser. Sign up as a model at www.sassoon.com/academy/models/uk/uk.php and you can get a free cut at a Sassoon training salon. You’ll need three hours for your cut, which will be fully supervised by the training team.

Money

IT sounds too good to be true, but you can earn money every time you shop at www.topcashback.co.uk. There’s no annual fee, so you get all the cashback you are offered. Current offers include cashback of up to £38.38 when you switch your phone and broadband to Plusnet and 5.05% cashback on online purchases at House of Fraser, Money is paid into your bank or through vouchers.
