London Dungeon is offering free entry on Blue Monday for anyone who uses a two-word phrase. The attraction is offering a 'free reality check' on what is called the most depressing day of the year.

The dungeons say people faced much worse back in the Victorian era so free entry is available for one day only on Monday, January 15, for those who quote ‘Black Monday’ to admissions staff on arrival.

A London Dungeon spokesperson said: “This Blue Monday, we’re uncharacteristically, trying to do something nice. For anyone playing hooky from work, school or responsibilities on Blue Monday – spend an hour or two in our world for free and we all but guarantee you’ll emerge feeling more grateful and ready to take on 2024.

“A quick trip down into our Dungeon will offer a swift reality check to those who think they have it hard this new year. When compared to a time before toilets, when people used sheep guts as condoms and arsenic was advised for beauty treatments – dark days, miserable weather and annoying co-workers seems like an easy ride.”

The London Dungeon offers 16 shows and rides bringing the city’s dark history to life, delivering stories and shocks on topics including the plague, conspiring against the King, being accused of witchcraft, and narrowly missing a slice from Sweeney Todd’s blade.
